Games! Zombie Dice!

A virus breaks out into the world. Scores of infected people scour the streets paved in blood and gore looking for food. Running, screaming and kicking food. You are infected. You are a zombie.

The player who goes first is the person who won the last game OR the person who can say BRAINNNNS with the most feeling. The game has 13 dice. Each dice has a set of steps, brains, shotguns and more brains. Each turn you throw your dice. If your dice gets the steps your victim got away and it’s a re-roll. If you get three shotguns then your turn is over and you count your brains. The point of the game is to get the most brains out of everyone playing.

Its a simple and quick game. It is fun as all hell when you get competitive like my wife does. (shes not aloud to play monopoly anymore….) So if you have some friends who are up into zombies and stuff you should check out Zombie Dice while watching Dawn of the Dead packing back a couple of brews.

Comics! Crimson Empire III: Empire Lost!

As every good nerd does, I love Star Wars. I love the Empire. I love the original movies. I love the Extended Universe. I love the 501st (I really want to join them one day.)! Don’t like Jar Jar Binks though. I don’t think anyone likes Jar Jar… But right now were not talking Jar Jar. We my good friends are talking about the last living Relic of the Empire. The Last Imperial Gaurd: Kir Kanos.

The story goes over a few different Crimson Empires but Empire lost should be the last of the series. It pits one faction of the empire lead by one of Darth Vader’s apprentices against two factions. The Empire and The New Republic. There is a ton of political espionage, sabotaging, explosions, aliens and lasers. This is honestly a story line I waited almost an entire year to complete. It spans over six comics and for some reason the sixth one took a couple of months to get to shelves. For some reason I didn’t ask why and I feel like I’m starting to want to. Anyhoo, the story is essentially stand alone. You don’t need too much back story besides knowing that the rebels won at the Battle of Endor. So it’s an easy read compared to some Star Wars titles. The art isn’t the greatest I’ve seen from Dark Horse but it forgivable. The Story line and the Dialog is very well written. Either way all of the books are now on shelves and if you are a star wars fan I would definitely check it out to see the true end of the old Empire…..

Long Live The Empire!

Comics! Tiny Titans!

Hello there my nerdcore crazies. Today I believe I will be talking about a very kid friendly comic called Tiny Titans. It is a DC title with a lot of our favorite sidekicks going on crazy and wacky adventures. The reason I even have these is because I have a little comic geek growing up with me. My daughter loves to read my comics and that just tickles me pink. So usually once a month I’ll take her into Third Eye Comics to pick out a comic for her. Sometimes it’s more frequent but I at least do it once a month since she can’t really read that well. Anyways besides a Spiderman novel, A couple of Tinkerbell novels, she picked out Tiny Titans. After sitting down with her and reading it to her I realized that I liked it myself. It was a really fun comic. Lots of bright colors. Easily understood dialog and a simple art style. It is perfect for the little nerd. The Gods know it’s hard as hell to raise a kid but trying to help a kid understand something like Saga is impossible and probably shouldn’t happen. So yeah. Tiny Titans for the tiny nerd  or nerds you love dearly. Check it out and make sure it gets on your monthly. These comics honestly sell out real fast.

To tell you all about this awesome news. For us comic geeks some things pass and nothing is noticed but something like this… DC Comics has picked up the rights to He-Man and the Masters of the Universe! It is slated for a July 4th release date this year. Sadly it won’t be a normal series (also thankfully it’s not cuz that just means id be broke). It is so far slated for a mini series. However I believe that it is just a front for DC to see if a He-Man comic would sell in this day and age. If it does well I don’t see why they wouldn’t pick it up for a normal DC series.  It will be written by James Robinson. The art will be done by Phillip Tan and Ruy Jose. The price is set for $2.99 us. So set your calanders boys and girls, our trip to Eternia starts on July 4th.

Comics! The one I wish would return!

Hey there kiddies. How are you all tonight? I’m doing ok I believe. I was just looking at my past comic buys and going through them seeing which ones I kept on with and the ones that ended. Eventually I came to this one comic named KING!. There have been alot of comics lost to time because of time constraints, money constraints, companies going under things like that. Alot of these comics were really good if not better then some of the major titles that you know and love. To me one of these titles was KING! by Blacklist Studios.

I haven’t seen any update by Blacklist since a 2011 website update. So im pretty sure it is safe to say we probably wont be seeing anything from them for a long time. Anyhoo now to know what we are missing out. KING! has a very simple premise. Elvis Presley is a gun for hire to kill supernatural creatures. In the two issues released we see him fighting ancient mayan zombies and a demigod. Then we see him fight vampires while making rock n roll refferences and generally being awesome. The art style is very much like the Hellboy and B.P.R.D. series along with Blacklist’s other title R13 which was about a skull in a robotic armor fighting monsters as well. There could have been alot of potential missed with King. I mean honestly who wouldn’t want to see Elvis fighting monsters with a sawed off shotgun, the spear of destiny and a giant pompadour. So KING! like Elvis himself is seen only once in a while and he is missed dearly.

Hail to the king baby.

Comics! King Conan!

I bid thee welcome to our kings hallowed halls. Where the sounds of metal on metal can be heard through the corridors in the words of songs. May he reign long. May he live long. All Hail King Conan!

Hey there, this is another one of those reviews I’m so excited about I give you a little opener. This review centers around the worlds favorite Cimmerian….Conan. Gone are the days of Conan the Barbarian and Conan the Destroyer. Now we enter the days of peace under the rule of the king. He who strangled King Neminides with his bare hands and placed the crown on his own furrowed brow. Who has been blessed by Crom and Mitra. Feared and hated by the loyalists of Set.

Ok yeah sounds fucking awesome right? It is. Dark Horse comics from time to time releases a King Conan miniseries. Both of them have been four parters and waiting four months is the most hellish agony I (an avid lover of Red and Queen Sonja and all things Conan) can endure besides a root canal. Anyway the books always set up for a Scribe by the name of Pramis to take down the history and stories of the Kings rule over Alquilonia. The series is set up to tell a tale (in true Hyborian) of steel and magic. Each one is one different short story of the adventures and mishaps of King Conan.

In the first of the miniseries: The Crimson Citadel, our king is lured into a trap set by traitors. His army decimated and flanked on all sides he is taken prisoner by a Sorceror of Set named Tsotha Lantis to let his triators rush the Kings home in Aquilonia and put a puppet kin in place. I don’t want to give too many details but Conan is once again faced with a dire situation that only his Cimerrian strength and barbaric rage will allow him to survive.  He does so and wins the day but not before enacting bloody revenge. Now even though I gave out the story line the details are quite the show. So please pick this up when you can at least for a read once in a while. Since these mini series seem to come out so very often and there is only two there shouldn’t be a problem catching up.

The Second of the mini series is: The Phoenix on the Sword. This is a tale told to Pramis by the gray wolf with teeth as our king so eloquently put it. This story is of a plot to assasinate our proud King. The only thing that kept Conan alive was a visit by the ancient sage Epemitreus! With Mitras blessing Conan awoke just in time to thwart his HUMAN slayers but there is something lurking in the shadows. Something dark. Something Devious. Something from the bowels of Set himself. This story line has a couple of twists and turns and our favorite Setite Thoth Amon.

So my dear readers, in conclusion these series should be given a look. The story lines are extremely elegant for a Conan series. There is plenty of action and plenty of suspence. The art is some of my favorite I have seen for any Conan title and the dialog is too. So if you can get your hands on it I  do suggest giving them a read.

Comics! Saga!

A base of Star Wars with a pinch of Game of Thrones. Tolkien adds a dash of spooks. FlCL provides the T.V.’s and the magic sparks all it’s own! (insert evil witch laugh here)

Ok my dearies this review is for the comic Saga. There can be alot to say about this comic but at the same time there isn’t. In short this is made of win and awesome. The long version goes like this. Saga is a comic based in a universe where there is alot of crazy shit. It really is simple as that. It follows the lives of a political prisoner who escapes a prison with a gaurd he fell in love with. Him being some sort of Pan creature is soley magic based while the love of his life is a gun toter. With that dynamic set in place thier personalities are written to be really believable put in impossible situations which is one of the reasons why I love this comic. Theres also nothing in this comic that is whole heartedly normal. It throws blatent situations at you very fast and you have nothing to do but accept it and love it. The very first issue has the female lead Alana giving birth. Then there is T.V. headed people having sex. You read that right. Read that part again to make sure. Now moving on. If that hasn’t caught your attention then nothing will.

Like I said in my little spell to draw you into the world of Saga, it is a giant mix of alot of things. It is set in a universe where magic and technology runs side by side. Where there is interstellar travel. Where ghosts like people and where cats tell you if someone is lying. It’s a strange world but it is Saga. The story is also taken from the view of a story told to the narrorator who happens to be the lead characters child.  All that aside the story is full of action, thrills, political intrique, strange things that will scare you and arouse you at the same time and it is all pulled togather with a wonderfully fresh art and ink style that I have fallen in love with. The dialog is masterfully written and the personalities of all the characters are believeable like ive said before. So once again my nerdcore crazies take a minute out of your day and pick up this comic. It is on its third issue (of which are twice as long as a normal comic) and is only $2.99. If anything should tell you about this comic its this: My wifey who is the absolute most pickiest person I’ve ever known loves this comic and is her first monthly. So there. Go on now.
