Ok my fellow Nerdcore’s and Whovians. We are all aware what this year means. This is the 50’th Anniversary of Doctor Who. Alot if not all is speculation besides the fact that David Tennant and Matt Smith will be on screen at the same time solving what ever problems and crisis that Moffat can throw at them. All the while being awesome and wearing bow ties. Why? Because bow ties are cool.
A quote from Matt Smith (The Doctor):
“What [Steven Moffat’s] written is just spellbinding. It’s one of the best [episodes] ever, ever, ever. There are parts of it in mad 3D. But what [Moffat’s] done with the idea is really clever, it’s not just throwing things at the screen. [Moffat’s] been wanting to write this script for ever and he’s really done it justice. There are elements to it which are different from normal episodes. When you combine all the elements that are different it’s not just an episode of Doctor Who, it’s something else, something bigger and more exciting.”
Beyond that I have absolutely no information on it what so ever. I am counting down the days to the premier. Rumors of Eccleson and possibly even the 8th Doctor, Paul McGann might show up. Like I said its speculation. Until then we have to gruelingly wait for months for an already much anticipated episode. I’m sure the original creators of the show had no idea it would blow up to be anything like it is today.
Sometimes I wonder in the unlimited parallel universes alongside ours if there really is a Doctor. Well for SCIENCE! is just narrowing my opinion of that down to definitely in one of these. Using the Kepler Telescope, NASA has found a transiting circumbinary multi-planet system. Two worlds orbiting two stars. Which is the exact description of Gallifrey, The Doctor’s home planet. It is also akin to the luxury-planet-builders’ planet Magrathea from The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.
Though officially named: Kepler 47 (five values off from the answer to everything), you and I both know what every scientist and astronomer is calling it.

Alrighty guys! The Nerdcore Nations leader is back! I do apologise for the long absence. It has been a hard couple months for me since my mom has passed and money problems and all sorts of woe. But Im getting back in the swing of things like Tarzan (complete with the leopard print loin cloth.) So since it has been a long time since any post I’m going to jump right into some basic things that you may or might not have heard of and throw my own opinions in there. I mean if you didn’t want to see that part why would you be following pretty lil ol me to begin with?!
In Marvel news, The Marvel Now! campaign is well underway. With a revamping of classic titles to fit a changing culture scape brought in by the new age of Comic Book Movies, this proves to be a very promising line for Marvel to take. With Deadpool #1, Indestructable Hulk and quite a few other on thier way in to comic shops near you keep an eye out for some really awesome new titles. Also in Marvel news, The Amazing Spiderman will be ending at issue 700. This will be the end of one of marvels longest running comics beloved by the company and the fans but I don’t see any sign of Mr. Parker hanging up his webshooters and red and blues any time soon so don’t you worry about that. Also Venom and The Scarlet Spider has had a crossover with Carnage in a miniseries Minimum Carnage. Starting in Minimum Carnage Aplha, Continuing back and forth between Scarlet Spider and Venom series finalling ending in Minimum Carnage: Omega. An amazing quick little mini series that if you havn’t been reading the full sereis of both, you need to. A review of the miniseries will come later. Also in the weather we will be in for a shower of blood as Dexter comes to Marvel.\
In DC news, Jason Gordon-Levitt is contacted to play the new batman in a possible lead up role to a new batman movie as well as the up and coming Justice League movie. The New 52 is going on strong after the effects of clarity of the Zero Month with story line questions answered and new comics set up for normal reading. Out of all of them The Phantom Stranger has really stood out among everything else. Even now I still cant rally myself to honestly give DC more chances.
In DYNAMITE! news, Mark Wade will be writing for the Green Hornet in 13′. I honestly can’t wait to see what he can do with the character. The rest of the industry is marching on finely with The Shadow and the Pathfinder series. Also for Dynamite Garth Enis will be leaving the series The Boys to write a new series called Red Team. The massive hero crossover Masks reaches its third issue. Dynamite has also picked up the show Grimm for a new comic series.
Here is an oldie but goldie. The Killing Joke is a graphic novel exploring further the complex relationship between Batman and The Joker. All the while giving a possible glimpse into one of The Joker’s possible origins. As he has said it himself:” If I have to have a past, I prefer it to be multiple choice!” Anywhoo there is a petition right now to have The Killing Joke turned into a animated movie with Mark Hamil returning as the Clown Prince Of Crime. I think this is one of the few things that we as comic book nerds are owed. Such a big stepping stone from Batman and The Joker’s past should indeed be made into a movie with all the bows, bells, whistles and booby traps. So when you get a chance head over to your facebook (unless you are a hipster then it would be too mainstream) and go to this link: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Petition-to-get-Mark-Hamill-to-play-the-Joker-in-animated-Killing-Joke/395872280428559
Ok so I’m hitting on a Firefly kick today. I have been watching for about 3 hours now and I plan on spending the rest of the day watching the Greatest Show Ever Cancelled. Unless you have lived under a rock, I’m sure you know. However for some readers that might be out of the country or have indeed lived in a cave or under a rock, I’ll give the rundown. of the show.
Now without going into immense detail like I honestly would, This show takes place after as galactic civil war. Now I know some of you may be screaming Starwars. But no. Think of this show as a futuristic aftershock of the U.S. Civil war. The Serenity a Firefly class star ship is captained by one Malcolm Reynolds and filled with a motley crew of a merc, a pilot, the doctor and his sister who is just strange, the Shepherd, a ditzy mechanic and a *Ahem* Companion. They fly through the skies smuggling this, delivering that. Gunfights here and a bar fight there. It’s like the wild west in space. The acting is amazing and the action is just mapped out by pure awesome and win. There is nothing about the show I can truly find fault with. So if you can grab up the season DVD and the movie named Serenity (after the ship) I suggest you do it as soon as possible.
