NEWS! To Infinity and BEYOND!

This could very well be N.A.S.A.’s new slogan. Their new space suit prototype Z-1 and Portable Life Support system 2.0 look akin to Disney/Pixar’s Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story 1,2 and 3. As of late this design wouldn’t be the only Disney/NASA cross over. They are designing an “Educational Experience” centered around the flight of Buzz, that will hopefully get children and young adults interested in space exploration, science and technology. Personally I think this is really neat. The Space Suit is domed with white base with a neon green trim. With this all I can say to NASA is: TO INFINITY AND BEYOND!

SCIENCE! Aliens on Mars!

I know what you guys might be thinking but no you are absolutely incorrect sir. I stumbled upon a article that may prove that there could be alien lifeforms on mars. The zinger about it is…..we put them there. A mistake made at N.A.S.A. about putting on the drill of the Mars Rover Curiosity, could have broken containment and let hundreds of thousands microbial stowaways on board. If the Rover finds water, there is no guarantee that if it finds some form of bacterial life, it could be martian or earthling in nature. TV/Movies! Firefly and Serenity!

Ok so I’m hitting on  a Firefly kick today. I have been watching for about 3 hours now and I plan on spending the rest of the day watching the Greatest Show Ever Cancelled. Unless you have lived under a rock, I’m sure you know. However for some readers that might be out of the country or have indeed lived in a cave or under a rock, I’ll give the rundown. of the show.

Now without going into immense detail like I honestly would, This show takes place after as galactic civil war. Now I know some of you may be screaming Starwars. But no. Think of this show as a futuristic aftershock of the U.S. Civil war. The Serenity a Firefly class star ship is captained by one Malcolm Reynolds and filled with a motley crew of a merc, a pilot, the doctor and his sister who is just strange, the Shepherd, a ditzy mechanic and a *Ahem* Companion. They fly through the skies smuggling this, delivering that. Gunfights here and a bar fight there. It’s like the wild west in space. The acting is amazing and the action is just mapped out by pure awesome and win. There is nothing about the show I can truly find fault with. So if you can grab up the season DVD and the movie named Serenity (after the ship) I suggest you do it as soon as possible.

SCIENCE! New Exo-Planet Found!

Deep within the constellation of Leo, there lies a home of a dim burning Red Dwarf star. You have been on the tail of this star for weeks, months. You keep your eye on the large planet revolving around our little crimson friend. Yet your readings have been giving you some spurious signals that just doesn’t make sense..unless…

You my good sir or madam have discovered a new planet. You check your data, see the dim and have found a planet just two-thirds the size of Earth whipping around this star in what you have calculated to be just 1.4 Earth days. From what you can deduce it is fairly close to the star so you could surmise that it will be hot with molten lava flows and if it had an atmosphere it is more then likely long gone. 

The biggest part about the article is probably overlooked. The fact that they found a sub-earth sized planet rolling around in the universe will push our scientists and our technology to find these earth and below size planets. At the moment with our tech level these planets are extremely hard to find. With me being a space geek I thought this was amazing. Hey there Nerdcore Crazies! We got some awesome news from the red planet! Little green men from space with big eyes and brainskulls for heads will be coming! in fact… They are already here and it is AWESOME! Ok so I might be a little over excited about this comic…actually no I’m not excited enough. Either way this comic is something you have to read. I’m a huge fan of old sci-fi b-movies. I’m a fan of old sci-fi b-comics and pulp comics. I’m a fan of aliens. Also a fan of Giorgio A. Tsoukalos, the Ancient Aliens guy who is well nuts. On a side note is it just me but over the seasons is his hair getting bigger or is he slowly being abducted?

Anyhoo back to the comic at hand. Mars Attacks. Issue #1 starts as a prequel explaining why the red planet is angry at us to begin with and you can thank a crooked redneck carnival guy. Who knew right? Anyhoo The story is smart and the dialog is natural. The art isn’t too amazing but it doesn’t have to be. Its aliens. Its Mars Attacks. What else could you ask for? I can’t think of it. It has action! It has Drama! I’m sure future issues will have romance! But for the time being I’m happy with what it is. Another really cool tidbit of information about the books is that the original cards that came with the Real O.G. comics are being printed as the covers. So what that means is that there are 50 collectable issues of issue #1. So expect a lot of hunting and trading for that one you reaaaly want. If you really want to drop the cash you should also be able to ask your Local Comic Shop for a box set of all the issues! If I had the money I’d rock that so hard. But until we can expand the Nerdcore Nation so that i might get some add revenue That might not be happening. So lets aim for that my dearies! Lets also aim to get a defense going just in case  Mars Attacks!

NEWS! Space!

Alrighty nerdcore crazies. It is comics AND MORE so i believe it revolves around comics, vidya games, tv, movies and science and maths. Anything that is pretty interesting to people of our unique understanding of the world. Anyhoo I was going through some sites (Yahoo being one of them) and I found an interesting article that I thought you might like to know about if you don’t frequent the pages of Yahoo much.

According to NASA scientists, The Spitzer Space Telescope seems to have caught some of the earliest items created after the Big Bang. No we are not talking about Sheldon’s ego. The items caught on infrared seem to be super hugely massive stars or black holes. After 400 hours of observing two patches of sky, Spitzer caught these vastly distant objects.
